Cottage Country Step Rebuild | Ottawa Valley

This cottage property came with a unique challenge: much of the outdoor space was built directly on solid bedrock.

The existing patio, steps and surrounding areas needed attention, but instead of fighting the natural landscape, we wanted to work with it.

Our Approach

We carefully regraded the space, built a new retaining wall, remodelled the steps and gave the existing patio a new life.

Another big goal was making the most of our client's budget. Wherever it made sense, we reused materials that were already on the property instead of replacing everything with new.

Working With What Was Already There

With solid existing materials, thoughtful planning and the right repairs, an older hardscape doesn't always need to be completely replaced.

By working with the existing pavers and the natural bedrock, we were able to create a space that feels refreshed while still fitting the character of the cottage.

The Result

The finished space is cleaner, more functional and better suited to the property, without losing the rugged cottage feel that made the site special in the first place.
